“I never saw an ugly thing in life. For let the form of the object be what it may, light, shade and perspective will always make it beautiful”.
Born in Kodaikanal in southern India, Paul Raj learnt his trade as a watercolour and tempera artist under the tutorage of Debi Chowdhury at the Government School of Art in Chennai. A topographical painter, his works were masterful depictions of scenes
of everyday life in rural India.
